Young Egyptian striker Hamza Abdelkarim returned to training with Barcelona after resolving work permit issues.

Young forward back at Barcelona

Hamza Abdelkarim, an 18 year-old Egyptian striker has resumed training at Barcelona’s Joan Gamper training complex after resolving the bureaucratic issues that delayed his first appearance with the club.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the promising forward returned to Barcelona and joined a training session on Friday marking first step in his integration into the club’s system.

The delay linked to work permit procedures, a common requirement for players arriving from outside the European Union. Because of this process, the player had to spend several weeks away from competition and travel back to Egypt to complete the necessary documents.

Barcelona plan gradual integration

Barcelona’s immediate plan is for Abdelkarim to begin his journey with the Juvenil A (U19) team allowing him to adapt to the club’s environment without pressure.

At this stage, the club does not expect the young striker to feature with Barcelona B although there is a small possibility he could appear in the Catalonia Cup final whose date has not yet been confirmed.

The coaching staff want the player to adapt gradually to developmental football, build match rhythm and adjust to the tactical demands of the academy before considering any move to higher levels.

Focus on development and adaptation

Inside the club, the priority is helping the Egyptian talent settle comfortably in his new surroundings. Barcelona view Abdelkarim as a player with strong long-term potential but they want to avoid rushing his progress.

The plan is for the striker to play limited minutes with the youth team at first. His performances will then be evaluated before any decision is made about promoting him to the reserve team or beyond.
