Manchester’s brightest climb in this week’s Wonderkid Power Rankings, with Nico O’Reilly taking top spot and Kobbie Mainoo closing in.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, former leader Mateus Fernandes drops to two after West Ham’s 5-2 loss to Liverpool, ending a month and a half at number one. O’Reilly did not score but forced a point-blank Karl Darlow save with a late header, used possession well and tracked back. An injury that ended his outing in the second half may affect his hold on first.
Mainoo was tidy against Crystal Palace, winning the ball six times and knitting play together for a couple of half-chances.
Bournemouth’s Álex Jiménez rose after mixing firm defending with two created chances on the overlap against Sunderland. Team-mate Rayan was electric, making 20 carries and three half-chances, with two efforts blocked, though his crossing was off.
Wolves forward Mateus Mané drew five fouls against Aston Villa and remained a menace, but his decision-making near the area still needs sharpening. Newcastle’s Lewis Hall dipped after a quiet Qarabag cameo and an indifferent Everton display, missing with five crosses despite forcing nine turnovers.
Crystal Palace’s 19-year-old Jaydee Canvot enters after five turnovers and a block against Zrinjski, then an assured aerial showing versus Manchester United. At the foot, Brentford’s Michael Kayode slips after an own goal despite two chances created, while Sunderland’s Noah Sadiki struggled in the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth.
