Lincoln City's Jovon Makama who is on Norwich's books could land the Canaries a healthy return on their investment if good form continues
Jovon Makama has been firing on all cylinders for Lincoln City this season, which could land Norwich City a healthy cash windfall if he continues in the same vein.
For Norwich, it's been far from the ideal start for Liam Manning's side, who, after being a well-established second tier side for a while now, that status is now in danger as the Canaries currently sit 23rd in the table with eight points, only above Sheffield Wednesday, who are on -6 due to their well known ownership and financial troubles.
After enduring five losses on the bounce and without a win since the end of August, it's a dark period at Carrow Road with there being very little to get excited about. However, one man who can give the club a glimmer of hope is Jovon Makama on loan at Lincoln City.
The Norfolk-based side took a punt on Makama from League One Lincoln City for a fee of £1.2m in the summer, and sure looks to be delivering on his price tag. With his transfer very much seeming like a risk from an outsider's point of view, having merely had one decent season under his belt in terms of attacking returns for the Imps, Makama has silenced the critics and taken to the Championship in fine form.
If the 21-year-old is to continue being the shining light in a time of turmoil for the Canaries, then it wouldn't come as a surprise if Norwich were to cash in on the youngster in order to receive a big cash windfall - a sale that would benefit Lincoln too.

After impressing last season with Lincoln City, Makama has continued his goalscoring form for the Canaries and has been the standout in the forward line alongside Josh Sargent. The 21-year-old has tallied up three league goals in 10 appearances this season by being a constant threat on the right wing due to his raw and tricky nature.
However, for an attacker in the modern era, performance can be largely based on stats for football fans, and he is certainly delivering on that front too. In terms of his performance in comparison to other wingers in the division, Makama is certainly keeping pace with, if not outperforming, some of the most highly rated players in the league. Not only based on his output in front of goal, but also on his overall performance.
According to Fotmob, Makama is averaging 0.94 goals per 90 minutes, highlighting how important he is to Norwich City's goal threat this season. His impact off the bench, as well as when given a starting role, has led to the winger having a better goal ratio per 90 minutes than the top performing players in the division this season, such as the likes of Brandon Thomas-Asante and Femi Azeez, who average 0.84 and 0.69 respectively.
Away from goals, Makama is producing exactly what he was bought in the door to do, which is to be a nuisance on the right wing. The winger is averaging 2.82 successful dribbles per 90, which ranks him as the eighth best in the league. Higher than Ipswich's Jaden Philogene and Jack Clarke.
As for where Makama could improve, the creative side of the game could take him to the next level. Having not registered an assist as of yet, and merely averaging 0.94 chances created per 90, there is a lot of room for improvement. If these numbers improve, in turn, it should benefit Makama's fellow attackers and get Norwich scoring more consistently, which has been lacking for Manning's side.

In Makama's early Norwich career, none of his three goals have been able to translate into three points for his side. However, with the 21-year-old now starting to earn himself a regular spot in Manning's starting XI, the best is yet to come for him in yellow and green.
If he continues in the same fashion of being one of the few positives at Norwich City at this time, then the Canaries could turn that £1.2m spent on the winger into much more in the future. Whether that'll be as soon as January or next summer and beyond is yet to be determined.
After making cameos from the bench in the first few weeks of the season, goals in back-to-back games against Wrexham and Stoke sent a clear message to the manager that Makama could be the difference getting some much-needed points on the board.
Despite being on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline away to Swansea at the weekend, Norwich fans saw what the youngster is all about, especially when partnered with Sargent. A neat interchange between the pair as Makama tapped the ball home by being in the right place at the right time showed signs of what the attacking line can do when on the same wavelength. Now, it's a case of doing is more frequently and on a more consistent basis.
If Makama is to depart Carrow Road for a decent fee, then Lincoln themselves could land a decent wedge too through Makama's sell-on clause in his contract. According to a speculative claim from The Stacey West, Lincoln have high hopes for the future of their talent, as the author said: "Hopefully he smashes it and goes on to be worth £10 million, meaning another windfall for us!"
In merely 287 minutes of football so far this season, Makama has certainly shown his worth and introduced himself to the Norwich faithful as a real asset. In that time, the winger has completed nine successful dribbles and created three chances in an attack that has struggled to find any kind of rhythm so far under Manning. Makama has delivered in front of goal so far, and has been the key source of their attacks. He is performing well above expectations.
Having been thrown into the deep end when it comes to making the step-up to the Championship, by no means has Makama been fazed by the challenge. With other clubs in the same division sure to be sniffing around if he keeps up his terrific form, then it could be hard for Norwich to say no to interest if the price is right.
But as for the here and now, his role is to keep Norwich in the Championship. If Makama keeps delivering for the Canaries week-in-week-out, then Manning will have to offer the youngster a huge thanks for achieving that feat and even from Manning's perspective, saving his job.
