Cristiano Ronaldo issued a frank assessment of the current Manchester United squad and their head coach, Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese superstar had a legendary spell at Old Trafford between 2003 and 2009, and a less memorable second run between August 2021 and December 2022, which ended following a spat with then-manager Erik ten Hag.
Ronaldo ended up making a shocking move to Al-Nassr, and he remains active in Saudi Arabia at the age of 40, and has yet to show signs of slowing down.
The attacker has once again sat down with his ‘friend’ Piers Morgan, opening up on various matters, including the Red Devils’ current status.
While Amorim’s men have been showing promising signs in recent weeks, CR7 isn’t convinced, insisting that the team doesn’t have what it takes to compete for the highest honours.
“I’m sad because of the club, that’s one of the most important clubs in the world, and a club that I still have in my heart because of the obvious reasons,” he told the British journalist.
“You have to follow with the intelligent people, smart people, to create a base for the future as Manchester United have [done] so many years ago. Nicky Butt, Gary, Roy Keane, Beckham, they became big players but they had youth. So Manchester United right now, they don’t have a structure.”
Nevertheless, Ronaldo defended his compatriot, Amorim, as he believes he’s making the most of the squad at his disposal.
“He [Amorim] is doing his best. What are you going to do? Miracles? Miracles is impossible. We say in Portugal, ‘Miracles is only in Fatima’… And he’s not gonna do miracles.”

Moreover, Ronaldo raised eyebrows with his blunt comment about Man Utd players, or at least some of them.
The Portuguese legend argues that there are players at the club who haven’t fully understood the significance of the club they’re representing.
“They have good players, but they don’t have, some of them, in mind what Manchester United is.”
This statement will surely stir the pot at Carrington. But if the current crop at Man Utd want to prove the five-time Ballon d’Or winner wrong, they must do their talking on the pitch.
The Red Devils are currently unbeaten in their last four fixtures, registering three wins and one draw. They’ll be looking to extend this positive run when they travel to North London to take on Spurs next weekend.
