FC Bayern turn around a game in Freiburg that was thought to be lost and astonish even their biggest critics. Dietmar Hamann, of all people, finds unusually positive words.

After a late 3-2 win at SC Freiburg, the record champions won over even one of their biggest critics. Dietmar Hamann was impressed by Munich’s performance after the game. „They impress me with the way they play,“ the former international explained on the Sky microphone.

It didn’t look like a win for Vincent Kompany’s team for a long time. Bayern were behind for long stretches and at times looked like they were already thinking about the CL thriller against Real Madrid. „They were outplayed for 70 minutes and Freiburg were 2-0 up. They then made changes, brought on Olise and Laimer, but you didn’t really believe in them,“ said Hamann, describing his impressions.

It was only in the final phase that the game turned completely. Youngster Tom Bischof in particular became the decisive factor with his goals. Freiburg were barely able to withstand the pressure from Munich. „Freiburg were on the ropes, just waiting for the final whistle like a boxer on the ropes. Bayern then showed all their class,“ said Hamann.

Hamann sure: „Will give them another boost“

According to the TV pundit, the late victory could also have an impact on the upcoming tasks. He sees a positive effect, especially with a view to the upcoming Champions League clash. „That will give them another boost. It will be a different game on Tuesday, but it didn’t do them any harm,“ explained the 52-year-old.

While Bayern thus remain on course for all competitions, their next opponents suffered a setback. Real Madrid lost 2-1 at RCD Mallorca in the league and are now under pressure. The Whites are now seven points behind FC Barcelona in the league and have already been knocked out of the cup, meaning that the Madrid side’s last chance of winning the title is probably the Champions League.

In Munich, on the other hand, the starting position remains clear: Kompany’s team is still represented in all three competitions and once again confirmed its ambitions with its comeback.
