James Morrison has warned Albion’s players to be ready for his management as he begins his permanent reign later this month, when the squad return for pre-season.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 40-year-old Scot, a club legend and three-time caretaker, handled the pressure of a relegation fight from February and says the dynamics will now change. He stressed he is no longer an interim, and that standards will be set.

"I'll try not to change too much. I know this job can be challenging but I'll try to be myself," Morrison said. "I have high standards. I know what's right for this club and what is wrong for this football club."

He added that it is about promoting good people and improving players. Morrison is an understated figure with deep knowledge of the club, a two-time promotion winner who played nine Premier League seasons at The Hawthorns, and he is known for driving standards.

His backroom team is still to be finalised, with decisions to follow. Albion are determined to keep hold of influential coach Matt Gill, who has had a key role behind the scenes. Gill is the long-term assistant to out-of-work Russell Martin, who is linked with summer roles including Blackburn, Watford and League One new boys Leicester.
