The Lilywhites are flying high in this season’s Barclays Women’s Super League and victory at The Progress With Unity Stadium would see Spurs leapfrog their fourth-placed opponents.
When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Spurs boss Ho acknowledged Manchester United’s qualities and highlighted the importance of his side having the right attitude and application.
“They’re a team competing for the title,” Ho said. “They have world class players and they’re playing on the big stages of the Champions League. They’re a top team in this league. We know it’ll be a tough test, but we need to turn up with the right attitude and apply ourselves correctly.”
Spurs end the calendar year with back-to-back trips to Manchester United; the North Londoners also face The Red Devils in the Subway Women’s League Cup quarter-finals next weekend. The double-header is huge for Spurs but Ho doesn’t see it as ‘season-defining’.
He said “I don’t think these games define our season – not before Christmas, anyway. We approach both games individually. First the league game, which is our full focus, then we follow that with the cup game afterwards. We may need to do things a little differently there, be a bit more creative and innovative in how we set-up.
“I’ve no doubt the players are up for these games – these are the ones they want to play in. When you’re facing top players and a team competing for the title, you want to show you are competing at that level.”
Spurs are juggling long-term injuries with Jess Naz, the latest player to be sidelined after sustaining an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. Ho believes that his side can remain competitive at the highest level without some important players.
He said “We can be competitive – we always will be. Whether we have 20 players or 12, we’ll go into the game organised and effective. I have full faith in the group. It’ll take everything from us, but we’ll go in with confidence and the belief we can win.”
Tottenham Hotspur’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Manchester United kicks-off at 2.30pm.
