According to Globo.com, Thiago Mendes and Cuiabano missed both pitch sessions at CT Moacyr Barbosa after the 1-0 loss to Corinthians on Sunday. Vasco are assessing the pair in a key week.

Thiago Mendes was withdrawn at half-time at Neo Química with pain in his right ankle after a challenge from behind by André, who received a straight red card. He began treatment on Monday after returning to Rio de Janeiro. He later shared a photo at home using a physio boot.

Cuiabano also went off last match with a muscle issue, replaced by Lucas Piton at the interval. He skipped training to continue treatment.

The absences are a concern this week. Vasco have a decisive meeting with Olimpia on Thursday to remain in contention for qualification for the next phase of the Sudamericana.

The plan to start a side largely made up of reserves remains, though regular starters will be named in the squad, as against Audax Italiano.

Vasco are bottom of Group G on one point from two matches, while Olimpia lead with four.

After that comes a clássico with Flamengo on Sunday in the 14th round at the Maracanã. Vasco sit on 16 points in 10th, while Flamengo are second after seven straight wins this season. The board and coaching staff are prioritising the national league.
