New Juventus coach Thiago Motta has given his first interview as head coach of the Bianconeri, insisting that ‘together’, fans and players alike will be proud of the team by the end of the season.

Juventus have released behind-the-scenes footage of Motta’s first day in Turin. The former Bologna boss arrived back in Italy on Sunday night after his post-season holiday, and was straight back to work a few hours later.

Motta was given a tour of the club’s headquarters and training ground, and was introduced to the majority of in-house staff. He was also able to sign autographs and pose for pictures with a number of supporters who had waited for his arrival outside Continassa.

Motta said that he was particularly pleased to see so many young people wanting to say hello, and mentioned multiple times that ‘togetherness’ will be key for the Juventus squad this season.

Thiago Motta: ‘Together, we can do a great job’

“I’m pleased and I’m happy to have met some of the fans outside, with so many young people there, who have already expressed the desire to start the season strongly and to see the team playing well,” Motta said in an interview with Juventus’s internal media channels.

“I’ve found myself in a really wonderful place to work. It goes without saying at such an historic club that, together, we can do a great job.”

Motta also expressed a desire to take part in as many matches as possible this season, as Juventus are set to return to the Champions League after sitting the competition out in 2023-24.

“It will certainly be a demanding season, but at the same time, it’s wonderful to be able to play so many matches and we hope to play in the maximum number of games, because that means we will be doing well, and that is our objective.

To the Juventus faithful, Motta said: “I send you fond greetings, and I hope to be able to meet you soon, in our stadium and in other grounds. I know that we will have your support and we will certainly give everything on the pitch, so that together we can all be proud of this team. Thank you.”
