Foot Mercato reports that Thiago Scuro’s position as AS Monaco CEO has been weakened and he is being questioned internally. Poor results, recurrent injuries and a failed summer window are cited, while his role is not under immediate threat.
Monaco have not won in Ligue 1 since 29 November, when they beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0. A four-match losing streak ended at the weekend with a goalless draw at Le Havre.
A campaign meant to build on last season’s third-place finish has stalled, with Monaco 10th and closer to the relegation places than the UEFA Champions League spots.
Summer gambles included selling assets such as Ben Seghir, Wilfried Singo and Breel Embolo to comply with Financial Fair Play. The recruits have struggled to deliver, with Ansu Fati criticised for a perceived lack of commitment, and Paul Pogba, Eric Dier and Lukas Hradeck missing long spells through injury.
With the transfer window closing imminently and the team needing urgent solutions, Scuro is considered unlikely to be sacked, but a serious discussion about his future is ongoing.
