Thiago Silva has been linked with a return to Milan or a new coaching role at Chelsea, but dropped a hint that his next career move will be in Scotland.

The defender has walked away from FC Porto after joining as a free agent in January, and despite the fact he will celebrate his 42nd birthday in September, is not necessarily ready to hang up his boots yet.

There were reports that he had been approached by his former club Milan with the idea of a return to San Siro, where he played from 2009 to 2012.

Another option for his next step is to retire and come back to another of his old haunts, with a coaching role ready for him at Chelsea.

Thiago Silva dropped a big hint, because he posted an image of himself on a training ground in Scotland.

“Midway through my UEFA licence course in Scotland,” he wrote.

“Always learning, always evolving. Football never stops teaching you!”

He thanked the Scotland national team for hosting him, but this does suggest that the player is preparing for his post-playing career.
