The Valencia CF defender, Thierry Rendall, played minutes in an official match again after eleven months from his serious injury suffered in October 2024.

The Portuguese full-back suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in the match between Valencia CF and Getafe CF at the Coliseum on 27 October 2024.

“It was around the 50th minute and in that play I went in strong and when I saw Alderete coming, I tried to pull my foot away so as not to get the second yellow card and, in that movement, my knee went inward and I heard a sound. I felt a bit of discomfort, but it was more the scare from the sound because that’s never good. When I went into the dressing room, I was warm and I put my foot on the ground and I told the doctor that I was fine and that I was going to go out and finish the match. At the end of the match, I didn’t have as much mobility in the knee, it hurt a little. I thought it wasn’t going to be anything, but it was the worst,” he described on VCF Media.

Nevertheless, Thierry Rendall never gave up and, through effort, sacrifice and a lot of resilience, the Valencia CF defender managed to recover. Last night, against FC Barcelona, he saw how all his work during this recovery process was rewarded. The player from Amadora replaced Diakhaby, another great example of overcoming adversity, and played 30 minutes.
