FC Bayern are once again being linked with an attacking star who has already been linked with them in the past, but the rumor from Spain raises questions.
Dani Olmo is currently going through a difficult phase at FC Barcelona – and now FC Bayern are once again being linked with the Spanish international.
As the Spanish portal Fichajes.net reports, FC Bayern are said to have the 27-year-old on their radar again. The attacking player, who has been linked with the record champions several times in the past, is struggling with injuries and increasing competition at Barcelona. Fermin Lopez in particular has outstripped him with his strong performances. While Lopez has impressed with his goalscoring ability and wit, Olmo is currently only being used sporadically.
FC Bayern had already courted Olmo in the past. During his time at RB Leipzig, the Spaniard was considered one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe. His advisor Andy Bara confirmed at the time: „When Dani was at Dinamo Zagreb, Bayern offered more money and the marketing side was also more extensive.“ Olmo nevertheless opted for Leipzig in order to take the next step in his career there. Olmo had also been a recurring topic at FC Bayern in previous transfer windows.
Now there are again reports in Spain about Bayern’s possible interest in Olmo. According to the report, Olmo could take on the role of a creative playmaker under coach Vincent Kompany. The rumoured transfer fee is up to 75 million euros.
However, the new rumour about Olmo has raised eyebrows. To put things in perspective: FC Bayern has an excellent line-up in Olmo’s position. Jamal Musiala is expected to be the central player for years and has only just extended his contract at Bayern on a long-term and highly paid basis.
In his absence, Serge Gnabry recently filled in at his position and made a good impression. Even though Gnabry’s contract expires in the summer, it is unlikely that Bayern will spend so much money on a player with Olmo’s profile.

The other attacking stars such as Michael Olise, Luis Diaz and top talent Lennart Karl rotate through the attacking positions in coach Vincent Kompany’s system and can also play in the attacking center. Karl in particular should be given more playing time in the future. Another expensive attacking player of Olmo’s calibre would make this even more difficult.
Conclusion: Despite the rumors from Barcelona, a transfer of Olmo to Bayern is currently unlikely.
Bayern will instead focus on other areas in the coming summer – particularly in defense, where contract talks with Dayot Upamecano and possible alternatives are the main focus.
