Journalist Wayne Veysey of Football Insider is claiming that Serie A clubs Como and Fiorentina recently registered firm interest in striker Beto. This interest signals a potential return to Italy for the 27-year-old. The Italian duo formally entered the race to lure the forward away from Merseyside during this month’s transfer window.
With this interest, it’s hard to see him staying at Goodison Park much longer. Everton are actively looking for fresh attacking reinforcements to strengthen a blunt forward line. However, the club hierarchy is dealing with a tough financial situation.
They cannot bring in a replacement until they finalise a deal for Beto’s departure. David Moyes reportedly gave the green light for the player to find a new employer. In doing so, he essentially admitted that the move has not worked out as planned.
Since the Guinea-Bissau striker’s big-money transfer to Merseyside in 2023, he has failed to solve Everton’s long-standing goalscoring problems. Beto managed just three goals across 25 appearances for Moyes’ side this season. Crucially, Beto only started eight Premier League games during that time.
These stats show a clear disconnect between the player’s output and what the manager needs. This gap is what’s forcing the club to push for a sale. The recruitment team must now wait for Como or Fiorentina to turn their interest into a real offer. Only then can they start moving on their own targets for incoming talent.

The push to sell Beto comes directly from Everton’s struggles in front of goal. The team have scored only 24 goals in 22 Premier League matches this season, so far. That low return puts a massive amount of pressure on the defence. It also stops the squad from moving up the table. For these reasons, getting fresh blood in is essential for the rest of the campaign.
Thierno Barry has surprisingly become Moyes’ top choice upfront. He hit a great run of form just at the right time. The 23-year-old scored three times in his last five games across all competitions. This run included the winning goal in the recent 1-0 victory over Aston Villa.
While Barry has the momentum right now, the management knows they need another reliable scorer. A new signing would help take the load off and give the team more options. So, Everton want to move Beto on for two reasons.
The club get an underperforming high-earner off the books and, at the same time, finds the cash to sign a more clinical finisher. Keeping a striker who keeps missing the mark makes it harder for the team to win close matches. The board needs to hurry up negotiations with the Italian clubs. Without a quick fix, Everton risk ending the window without the extra firepower they desperately need.
