Tottenham Hotspur head coach Robert Vilahamn is keen for his side to chase success in this season’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

Spurs play host to Barclays Women’s Championship leaders Charlton Athletic at Brisbane Road this evening in the fifth round of the competition.

With Spurs now out of the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup and not competing for this season’s Barclays Women’s Super League title, the Adobe Women’s FA Cup is the one trophy that they can still win. Head coach Vilahamn is keen for his side to take up the opportunity of a FA Cup run.

“It’s three games before we can play at Wembley for a title, so it’s quite close,” Vilahamn said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “We see that and we know that if we win this game, it’s two more games before we can play at Wembley.

“We very much want to do that because I don’t think we are going to win the league this year and we will not win the Conti Cup. This is our last chance to win a title this year and we want to be that team.

“Hopefully, we can learn from the Manchester City game in midweek, get a win and have a good run in the FA Cup.”

Former Spurs boss Karen Hills is now in charge of high-flying Charlton Athletic. Vilahamn is aware of Hills’ Spurs legacy and he has been impressed with how her current club have performed this season.

He said “We played them in a friendly directly after New Year. Of course, I know that she was here before for a long time and she has a good relationship with the club, so it’ll be nice to play against her again.

“They are doing good. They are one of the teams that could nail it and go up to the Women’s Super League next year, so I’m impressed with what they are doing.

“It’ll be a tough game but I also know that when we play against a Championship team, if we reach the levels that we want to reach, we have a really good chance to win. We need to go into this game with a very professional mindset and play our style.”

Tottenham Hotspur’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie against Charlton Athletic is scheduled to kick-off at 5.15pm this evening. Tickets will be on-sale ahead of kick-off at Brisbane Road.
