Sky Sports’ predictions for today’s huge Chelsea – Aston Villa game are in, and it’s not good for the Blues.

Villa roll into the game on a run of 10 wins in a row, but perhaps aren’t as menacing as that record would suggest, given they’ve scored some fantastic goals and nicked some wins in that time.

They’re clearly a very good team in very good form, however, with top players and a top coach. This is going to be a very difficult game to win.

“Chelsea still struggle to control games for long periods, especially against teams willing to attack space quickly” Lewis Jones points out in his match preview.

“That’s where Morgan Rogers comes to the party. Villa’s main man doesn’t need volume, he needs moments – and Chelsea provide plenty of those.”

He ultimately goes for a 2-1 win for the Villains. Let’s hope Chelsea can prove him wrong.

Chelsea and Villa try to find each other’s weaknesses

We can see his logic, that Chelsea’s weaknesses may play into Villa’s strengths, especially at home. But we can see it going the other way too. We can attack them with pace, and their back line really lacks speed. Enzo Maresca’s team selection may be focused on exploiting that in particular.

With two such tactical managers facing off, it could be a fascinating battle – or a boring draw.

In other news…

Maresca dropped Enzo Fernandez against Newcastle last week and it didn’t work out too well – does he now bring him back in for this game? We’ll find out later this evening.

The game tonight is likely to come down to a battle between Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers – there will be more to it than that, but those are the creative players most likely to be able to change the game in an instant.
