On 26 June 1932, Lazio beat Roma 3-0 in the Coppa Fornari final, Fantoni I struck twice and Malatesta added the other. On 27 June 1937, Lazio overcame Hungaria 3-2 in the Central European Cup last 16 after leading 3-0. On 27 June 2020, Lazio beat Fiorentina 2-1, Luis Alberto scoring eight minutes from time.

Match in focus, 25 June 1971, Basel. Lazio lifted the Cup of the Alps by beating holders Basel 3-1, Pierpaolo Manservisi netted early, the hosts levelled before the break, then Giorgio Chinaglia struck twice despite contentious officiating.

The victory capped a bruising relegation season marked by rows between president Umberto Lenzini and Juan Carlos Lorenzo, with Bob Lovati coaching the competition and Tommaso Maestrelli already chosen for the next campaign. The cup carried prestige and, with Lenzini promising not to sell Chinaglia to Juventus, the outlook brightened.

Renato Ziaco is also remembered. Born on 20 February 1927, Lazio’s innovative club doctor served from 1961 for 25 years, missed the 1974 title celebrations while operating on Gigi Martini, aided Tommaso Maestrelli and Luciano Re Cecconi, and died on 25 June 1985 after a diagnosis that followed a fall that January.
