Thomas Christiansen has praised Leeds United and reflected on what he learned at Elland Road as his Panama side prepare to face England at the World Cup.
Appointed in June 2017 in a surprise move, the Dane oversaw a strong start to the Championship campaign in the push to end Leeds’ Premier League exile, according to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk.
Form dipped in autumn, then despite a good December run he was dismissed in February after a 4-1 home defeat by Cardiff City, which made it five losses on the spin.
Christiansen returned to the dugout with Union Saint-Gilloise in July 2019, then took his first international role the following summer when he became Panama head coach.
He said the short spell at Leeds taught him more than any other job and that he enjoyed working with what he called the amazing people of the city, speaking at his pre-match press conference.
Having led Panama to qualification, his team meet England on Saturday night in a huge group-stage finale.
