Speaking to the media, Frank declared his admiration for Van den Berg, claiming “I think he is a great player with an even bigger potential. A good age for a young centre-back that played quite a significant amount of games in the Championship and in the Bundesliga.”

Discussing the rumours that ex Kopite Xabi Alonso was interested in bringing Van den Berg to Bayer Leverkusen after he impressed against the German champions, Frank stated “I heard the rumours about Leverkusen, if that is true, then I think it is a statement that players want to come to us over other top clubs.”

“We know that we are interesting because we have a fantastic environment, we have a good team, good club and we are growing.”

Van den Berg struggled for game time at Anfield

Van den Berg is set to make his debut for Brentford at Anfield, having officially completed his move to West London yesterday for the sum of £25 million.

The Dutch defender departed after five years at Liverpool, during which he struggled to secure regular game time.

Sepp van den Berg has completed a permanent transfer to Brentford.

Everyone at LFC thanks Sepp for his contributions at the club and wishes him the best of luck in his future career 👊

The Bees have secured two members of Liverpool’s squad this month, completing the signing of Fábio Carvalho for a fee of £27.5 million.

Liverpool's 2-0 win over Ipswich Town has provided Slot with plenty of plaudits, with Frank his latest fan

Whilst Carvalho and Van den Berg were rendered surplus to requirements by Slot, Frank was still full of praise for the Dutch manager.

“We are going into a fantastic team, against a good manager. I followed his work with Feyenoord, of course seen his pre-season games, the Ipswich game and it looks good.”

“He tried to add layers to the fantastic job [Jurgen] Klopp did. He inherited a fantastic team. The team that started against Ipswich is a fantastic team.”

“At home, they are so frightening, I expect them to be an unbelievably difficult task. We know we have the capacity to go anywhere and try to win it. We will go there and try everything we can to win it.”
