Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has heaped praise on his troops after a comprehensive 2-0 win against Brentford in North London.

Spurs had gone five Premier League games without a win before hosting the Bees at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The build up to the game was dominated by Frank’s reunion with his former employers but the players made sure they handled business on the pitch to end a frustrating run of form.

Summer signing Xavi Simons ran the show for Tottenham, finally living up to the big-money investment Spurs made to bring him to England.

The Netherlands international set up Richarlison for the opener after 25 minutes before netting his first Premier League goal to ensure Tottenham went into the break with a two-goal cushion.

Tottenham, who have struggled with injuries this season, controlled proceedings in the second half to make sure they also got a clean sheet to go with the impressive victory.

“I am happy with so many things,” Frank said (via BBC). “I think it was a very good performance overall.

“A quite complete performance. Offensively we looked a big threat going forwards. We were much more dynamic and producing good chances and good moments. I really like that.

“Also the defensive side of things, we kept them to four shots throughout the game.

“It was a really good performance. The fans were amazing from the off and the players were thriving off them. To have that complete collaboration together, I really loved that. It was a great win.”

Those first half goals were enough for Tottenham to pick up only their second league victory on home soil after eight games.

Since claiming a 3-0 home win against Burnley at the start of the season, Tottenham had failed to win any of their subsequent six outings on home soil (D2, L4).

Frank will hope the win against his former employers marks a turning point for Spurs.

“It was a very good step today and we need to keep building on it and another thing, the fans were really good,” he said.

“They pushed us forward with every tackle. Everything was celebrated. That collaboration where we feed off each other is important and we can make this place a fortress.”
