On Wednesday evening, Bayern Munich tasted defeat for the first time under Vincent Kompany, losing 1-0 away to Aston Villa in the Champions League.

Having also previously failed to overcome a rather toothless Bayer Leverkusen side on Saturday evening, criticism towards Bayern’s Belgian head coach was beginning to be made.

Nevertheless, since their defeat at Villa Park, players, club officials, and Kompany himself have come out and defended the philosophy that is being installed at the Allianz Arena.

Now, Thomas Müller is the latest player to heap praise on Kompany, explaining in his newsletter that he believes the club are “on track” and while their loss in the Champions League “hurts,” in the grand scheme of things, “it’s not a big deal.”

As well as this, the 35-year-old reassured fans that the players are enjoying playing the way in which Kompany envisions:

“The training work is good; we feel comfortable in the new system and know exactly what the coach wants from us. No question marks, just exclamation marks at the moment.”

With an away trip to second-placed Eintracht Frankfurt on the horizon for Der Rekordmeister, Müller has promised that Bayern “will do everything we can to give our fans something extra to celebrate on the last Oktoberfest weekend,” as they look to maintain top spot in the Bundesliga.
