UEFA rules state that the matchday squad can only contain 23 players, so Thomas Tuchel having to leave players out of his 26 (25!) man squad.
England head coach Thomas Tuchel has brought in Morgan Gibbs-White and Jarell Quansah, who were two of the three left out on Friday night against Albania.
Aaron Ramsdale was left out on Friday and is again left out of tonight’s squad.
The two changes happening as two Newcastle United players aren’t in tonight’s squad.
Anthony Gordon was forced out of the squad through injury and returned to Tyneside at the weekend for assessment on his hip issue at NUFC.
Whilst Tino Livramento has now been left out to make way for Quansah.
Thomas Tuchel explaining his decision making when deciding tonight’s 23 man squad against Latvia:
“We have to get the process right to find the best group.
“If that means we leave very good and talented players out of the squad this can happen.
“In the next 16 months it is important we find the right team and not the most talented 26 players.
“We need to get the team right.
“We need to get the team spirit right because it’s one thing to play qualifiers, it’s another thing to play tournament football.”
A temporary negative for Tino Livramento but Newcastle United fans won’t be too unhappy that a key player won’t be at any risk of injury tonight.
All NUFC eyes then on Dan Burn, to see if he retains his place tonight for England AND gets through it withoyt any injury scares.
Here are the 23 players who are in tonight’s England squad for the World Cup group qualifier against Latvia at Wembley:
Dan Burn (Newcastle United), Levi Colwill (Chelsea), Jarrel Quansah (Liverpool), Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace), Reece James (Chelsea), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), Myles Lewis-Skelly (Arsenal), Kyle Walker (AC Milan, loan from Manchester City)
