Three Lions boss gave fair assessment of his side’s performance in Prague

England won 2-0 against the Czechs in Prague in the Nations League on Tuesday night as Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane found the net for Tuchel’s side.

Real Madrid’s Alexander-Arnold made his first start for his country in almost two years at right-back, while Newcastle left-back Hall was handed his fifth cap and only second start for England.

“I think we played very professionally,” Tuchel said of his team's performance.

“In the second half we stepped up — we needed to be a bit more dynamic and have a bit more urgency in our play, which we did. We kept the intensity going and the effort was still there. A deserved victory.

“It is always a bit strange to get an early red card [in the game]. It is not the best for the spectators and not the best for the team. It is an awkward one, but we got an important one, and that is what counts.”

The England head coach said Alexander-Arnold’s assist for Gordon’s opener was “a good pass and a good goal” and was asked to assess the performances his two full-backs had delivered in Prague.

“Good — both good,” Tuchel said. “I think the position in the second half suited Trent a little bit more than the position in the first half.

“Lewis did excellently on the other side. So well done. I think we have used all outfield players now over the two matches. Credit to them. They deserved it.”
