The Blues travel to Molineux looking to bounce back after their shock 2-1 home defeat to Sunderland at the weekend.

But with Tottenham to come in the Premier League on Saturday, Maresca is set to hand opportunities to those on the fringes of his squad.

Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, and Joao Pedro, who all played through injury against Sunderland, are expected to be rested, while Liam Delap is set to make his return from a hamstring injury.

Here, Standard Sport looks at three players hoping to make their mark against Wolves…

Liam Delap

It has been a frustrating start to life at Chelsea for Delap, who has been out since the end of August with a hamstring injury.

The 22-year-old has played just 93 minutes for the Blues this season but is expected to make his long-awaited return to fitness against Wolves.

Maresca said in his pre-match press conference that Joao Pedro was not in the mould of a traditional striker and could not be relied upon to get 20 goals a season.

That role, as the focal point of Chelsea’s frontline, seems ready-made for the bruising presence of Delap, whose physicality can help bring more technical attacking talent into play.

Delap will not play the full 90 at Molineux, but he will likely have more than enough time to get to grips with a Wolves defence low on confidence.

Jamie Gittens

Another player who has not yet made the impact he would have hoped following his summer move to Chelsea is Jamie Gittens.

The 21-year-old has been in and out of the side with fierce competition for minutes on the wing, but he will hope to build on a promising performance against 10-man Ajax in the Champions League last week.

Maresca will have a keen eye on Chelsea’s attack following his side’s display against Sunderland, in which they dominated possession but were not able to carve out many clear-cut chances.

The Chelsea head coach will likely look to refresh his attack against Wolves and will offer up opportunities to those eager to impress, including Gittens, who has started just four games in all competitions this season.

Chelsea’s wealth of attacking riches leaves no room for complacency, and Gittens is well-positioned to stake a claim for more minutes if he gets given the nod against Wolves.

Jorrel Hato

Chelsea’s 5-1 demolition of Ajax represented an important milestone for 19-year-old defender Jorrel Hato.

On top of making his Champions League debut against his former club, Hato’s assured performance at left-back represented a breakthrough moment.

His lung-busting dart to recover possession late on, with Chelsea firmly in control against Ajax, drew a round of applause from Maresca, who was clearly impressed with the determination Hato had shown.

Hato, who has started four games in all competitions this season, admitted after the game that he had struggled initially to adapt to life in England, but was quickly getting to grips with the increased tempo.

“I have the same feeling. It's not easy if you go from the Dutch league to the Premier League. It's such a big difference, and I knew that.

“I was maybe struggling a bit in the beginning, but I think every day it's better and better.”

His confident and committed display against Ajax showcased the improvements he has made, and Maresca will surely be keen to see more of that against Wolves.
