Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae could be in demand in the 2026 summer window, although a potential exit in January cannot be ruled out.

Min-jae has dropped down the pecking order at the club behind Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah this season.

The 28-year-old defender, however, has really impressed whenever given the opportunity and was flawless in a 3-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach.

During the summer window, it was speculated whether Bayern would be willing to sell Min-jae, but that did not happen.

The South Korea international has made two starts in the Bundesliga, and a further two appearances have come from the bench.

He has also made three appearances in the Champions League this season.

Christian Falk has told CFBayern that Juventus are showing keen interest in signing Min-jae in January, but any potential move is likely to take place next summer.

AC Milan and Inter Milan also register concrete interest in the centre-back, and there is a possibility that he could be sold in the January window.

Bayern are in the race to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, and if they can bring him in January, it could pave the way for Min-jae’s departure.

He said: “It is TRUE: Juventus could try and sign Kim Min-jae in January. Bayern, of course, doesn’t want to sell in the winter. Perhaps, if they could bring Marc Guehi to the side in January, this could be an opportunity.

“However, in this case, I have to tell you that Juventus aren’t the only interested club from Italy. AC Milan and Inter Milan are both more concrete at the moment for the signing of Kim. They’re really concretely interested.

“So, you see, his prior performances at Napoli in Serie A are still remembered in Italy, and there is so much interest in the South Korea international’s services. Those two main clubs will try to sign him in the summer, but if there is a chance in the winter, I think that will also be an option on the table.”

Complicated scenario for Bayern Munich

Guehi would become a free agent next summer, and it makes sense for Bayern to try to lure him away to Allianz Arena on a cut-price deal in January.

However, there is also another major issue that Bayern need to solve.

Dayot Upamecano will become a free agent in the summer, and as of now, Bayern have not reached an agreement with him.

While the club remains confident that it can persuade him to stay put, it may not turn out that way.

In that case, will Bayern be willing to sell an experienced defender like Min-jae if Upamecano leaves? We will have to wait and see.
