Three left wingers starring at the World Cup that could sign for Arsenal this summer

The World Cup is always a special time for football, with legacies made and broken, dreams coming true and dreams dashed. One of the most interesting effects of the World Cup is the big post-breakout transfer. Players like James Rodriguez, Enzo Fernandez, even as far back as Wayne Rooney, have gained their big breaks to major teams after successful World Cup tournaments.

The World Cup coincides with a moment where Arsenal could do with another big star. Even though they won the Premier League last year, it’s clear that Mikel Arteta’s side could kick on with a high quality left winger to boost their attack. There are several good options on the market, but a few options could be standing out at this World Cup. Here’s a look at a few options that could transform Arsenal’s attack.

Three wingers whose World Cup performances could earn them a move to Arsenal

Bradley Barcola

Bradley Barcola has played in both of France’s games so far, including a goal against Senegal. For Barcola to hold down a spot in the best attack in the tournament, even at times keeping fellow PSG stars Desire Doue and even Ousmane Dembele on the bench, it shows the faith Didier Deschamps has in him.

Barcola has a reduced role at PSG, being firmly behind Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the pecking order. He’s energetic, not afraid to take a player on, and has great end product. There’s no wonder Arsenal are targeting him so strongly.

If France win the tournament, which they are among the most likely to do, Barcola could look for a bigger role than at PSG. If you want to bet on France’s chances at the World Cup, and are hoping that William Saliba brings a World Cup medal home, then you can use an exclusive Betano promo code from GOAL to bet on the World Cup

Crysensio Summerville

Having been relegated to the Championship with West Ham this year, Summerville might’ve been a surprise rumour for many Arsenal fans. However, in his performances for the Netherlands national team so far, he’s been fantastic, with 2 goals in his first 2 games in the tournament.

He should be available on the market for a slightly cut price due to his club’s relegation, although it is reported that there is no relegation clause in his contract. A slightly weaker version of Barcola, he’s an elite dribbler and runner, offering something different for Arteta’s attack.

Morgan Rodgers

More of an inside forward than a winger like many of the other options, Rogers hasn’t featured as much in the World Cup so far, as he seems to be behind Jude Bellingham in the pecking order. But Rogers will get his chance to shine in this tournament, and he’s been included here because he is so perfect for Arsenal.

Already a firm target for the Gunners, he’s capable of playing both on the left wing and as an attacking midfield. He’s big, he’s physical, he fits the style of Arteta’s attack, he’s also absurdly technically gifted. He’ll cost a pretty penny, especially if he sets the World Cup knockout stages on fire, but he would take the Gunners to a whole new level.
