Manchester United have identified their midfield targets as they look for a long term replacement of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro. The midfield icon is set to leave the Premier League giants at the end of the season after announcing the news of his departure earlier this year.
Casemiro has played a crucial role in the Man United midfield in the last few seasons and with him leaving the club, the Red Devils are now targeting players of similar profile in the transfer market.
According to the Daily Mail, Man United have a three-man shortlist to replace Casemiro and that list includes: Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton and Sandro Tonali.
As per the report, United could even look to sign two new midfielders if Manuel Ugarte also leaves the club in the summer.
The Premier League giants have made it their priority to make new additions to the midfield.
It has been a position of concern for the Red Devils for a long time. While Casemiro has been crucial, his age and declining form was a cause of concern for the club.
On the other hand, Kobbie Mainoo is still young and developing and he is far from a finished product.
As for Ugarte, his form has been up and down during his time in Manchester and the Premier League side could look to replace him.
Having invested heavily in attacking and defensive positions in recent windows, the attention will now firmly switch to the midfield.

Anderson, Wharton and Tonali have wealth of experience in the Premier League and they have all done well for their respective teams.
No wonder top Premier League clubs have been linked with a move for them and Man United are one of them.
Whoever they target, they are expected to face intense competition from their league rivals.
Along with appointing a new permanent manager, signing a new midfielder, or two, will be high on the priority list at Old Trafford.
