Paolo Vanoli has returned to take charge of Fiorentina three months after being sacked. He replaces Fabio Grosso, who was dismissed last Sunday.

The club said in a post that the first-team technical leadership had been entrusted to Paolo Vanoli.

Grosso, formerly in charge of Olympique Lyonnais, lasted only four matches. Fiorentina are bottom of Serie A after losing their first three league games.

Appointed on eight June, the former Italy international defender was in post only a few weeks before being let go.

Fiorentina have turned back to Vanoli, who previously led the team. His swift return means the predecessor has become the successor in an unusual twist.
