Three more teams book their place at the 2026 World Cup 🏆

Now there are 16 teams confirmed for the World Cup, which will be hosted by Canada, the United States, and Mexico next year.

Three more qualifications were confirmed on Thursday night (4th), during the 17th and penultimate round of the Conmebol qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Colombia, Paraguay, and Uruguay booked their spots Thursday evening, with only the playoff spot in South America remaining. That spot will b will be contested by Venezuela and Bolivia in the final round.

A "simple" victory at the Metropolitano de Barranquilla was enough for Colombia.

It was up to him, James Rodríguez, to open the scoring at 31 minutes after a cross from Santi Arias, from Bahia, a goal that justified the absolute dominance of the hosts.

The second goal came at 19', with Jhon Cordoba. And Quintero (33') completed the party.

The coffee growers will play their seventh World Cup in history after the editions of 1962, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2014, and 2018.

Their best performance was reaching the quarterfinals in 14, falling to Brazil.

After a long drought, Paraguay is back.

They just needed to draw at Defensores del Chaco. Which happened.

They couldn't dominate against an Ecuador that was more competent with the ball.

But they celebrated (a lot) in front of their fans in Asunción.

The albirroja team is going to their ninth World Cup. Ending a hiatus of three editions out.

They played in the World Cup in 1930, 1950, 1958, 1986, 1998, 2002, 2006, and 2010.

Their best campaign was in South Africa, when they reached the quarterfinals and stopped at the future champion Spain.

The Celeste did what was expected of them at the mythical Centenario.

They went to the break ahead after the play that passed by Arrascaeta before Varela crossed for Aguirre's goal (14').

Arrascaeta scored the second at 13 of the final stage picking up the leftovers with "anger" to stuff the rival net, and Federico Viñas closed the scoring.

The Celeste secured their presence in their 15th World Cup.

Champion in 1930 and 1950, they were also fourth three times (1954, 1970, and 2010). They also participated in the editions of 1962, 1966, 1974, 1986, 1990, 2002, 2014, 2018, and 2022.
