According to Sainstmarching.com, Leeds United are intensifying their pursuit of Shea Charles, with reports of a bid worth more than £20 million to Southampton. The Northern Ireland international appears increasingly likely to depart St Mary's this summer.

The prospect has not gone down well with Saints supporters, who have voiced frustration on social media and warned both Leeds fans and Charles that they have seen similar exits before. History has been mixed, with some youngsters thriving after leaving and others stalling. If Charles does go, Southampton may need to move for a replacement.

Josh Mulligan has attracted interest from Wolves, West Ham and Southampton barely a year after joining Hibernian. He made 33 appearances as Hibs finished fifth, shining before an ankle injury disrupted his season after the turn of the year. Powerful and energetic, he drives forward, covers ground and relishes physical duels, echoing the qualities that have made John McGinn a Premier League success.

Crystal Palace midfielder David Ozoh is physically imposing and tough-tackling, and could be an ideal Charles replacement. He lacks Charles' goal threat, but breaks up play and shields the defence, giving full-backs and attacking midfielders licence to advance. He has spent the past two seasons on loan at Derby County, earning a strong Championship reputation for maturity, technique and presence.

Norway Under-21 international Jens Hjertø-Dahl is drawing interest across Europe and looks a credible target from Tromsø. He has scored five goals in 12 Eliteserien games this season and is comfortable on either foot, bringing energy, technique and an eye for goal. Southampton may need to act quickly, with Benfica, Sporting CP and several Bundesliga clubs reportedly monitoring him after potential moves to Rangers and Beşiktaş fell through in January.
