Poland got their World Cup campaign back on track, as they picked up a 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia.

While the Asian side had acquired three points against Argentina, Poland were held to a goalless draw by Mexico. The win for the Poles made sure that the group has now become very interested.

Szczesny comes in clutch

Wojciech Szczesny’s injury issues have held him this season for Juventus and he had been criticised last season for the Bianconeri. But his penalty save and other attempts to keep Saudi Arabia helped Poland massively in their bid to get the all-important three points.

With the game against Argentina coming up, he could prove vital in potentially taking his side to the next round after having restored some confidence today.

Not bad at all from Saudi Arabia

While Herve Renard’s side did not pick up a win, their performance was still quite good and if not for Szczesny’s penalty save, things could have been different. They once again showed good signs of dominating and conducting things in possession and proved that they may well have a chance of beating Mexico and potentially going through.

Robert Lewandowski proves his mettle

While Lewandowski was pretty average in the draw against Mexico, he rose to the occassion today and even though he scored once, he got into great goalscoring positions and hit the post twice.

It showed that when Poland have higher amount of position, he would thrive more and it is lesson that the Poles have to take into consideration in the next few games.
