Spurs have endured a catastrophic season and find themselves in the relegation zone and two points from safety with five games to go.

After lifting the Europa League last May, Tottenham have been served a brutal reality check and could be relegated to the second division for the first time since 1977.

So, while many players will be assessing their options ahead of next season, De Zerbi will be taking a keen interest in several Spurs players who have impressed on loan this year.

Here Standard Sport assesses three loan players who could get minutes for Spurs next season…

Mikey Moore

Mikey Moore has long been touted as one of the brightest products in Tottenham’s academy and has already made 21 first-team appearances.

The England youth international was sent on loan to Rangers last summer, and while he initially struggled to make an impact, the 18-year-old winger has blossomed as Danny Rohl’s side have moved to within one point of Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts.

Moore has started eight of Rangers’ last nine league games, cementing himself as a key part of Rohl’s side since the turn of the year.

Across 42 appearances in all competitions this season, Moore has produced six goals and three assists, and when asked about his future last month, he said he would like to stay at Rangers if the opportunity presented itself.

Spurs, though, are struggling for options out wide and could hand Moore a more prominent first-team role next season, especially if they are relegated to the Championship.

When Spurs were mapping out their plan for the January transfer window, it felt as though relegation was not a consideration.

Now, though, there is no escaping the fact that Spurs are in very real danger of dropping into the Championship.

Spurs are seemingly ill-prepared for playing second division football. But in centre-back, Ashley Phillips, they have someone with experience in the Championship who could slot straight into their side.

In the eventuality that Spurs lose either Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven in the summer, Phillips, who is a first-team regular at Stoke City, could help soften the blow by providing depth and experience in defence.

The 20-year-old has been learning his trade on loan at Stoke for the last two seasons, making a combined 81 appearances in all competitions, and has also spent time at Plymouth and Blackburn.

Noted for his physicality, Phillips has taken to the Championship with ease, and would take little time to adjust were Spurs to be relegated.

Luka Vuskovic’s future at Spurs appears to hinge on whether they stay in the Premier League.

The Croatian midfielder has shone on loan at Bundesliga side Hamburg and has attracted interest from Bayern Munich.

Vuskovic has scored five goals in 25 appearances this season, and Spurs will be desperate to integrate him into the first team.

The 19-year-old, who is under contract at Spurs until 2030, is one of the brightest talents in Europe and is unlikely to want to play in the Championship.

Spurs’ survival, therefore, appears to be central to their plans to keep hold of Vuskovic, despite him stating that “after this season, I'll be a Tottenham player again” when quizzed on his future in an interview with German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung at the start of April.
