Three Way Title Fight As Odds Flip And Rangers Muscle Back Into Contention

Ibrox Noise has always been fascinated by odds, and watching the story this season for the title race odds has been no exception.

With Celtic starting out the usual overwhelming favourites, Rangers were predictably second, but that of course changed under Russell Martin then early Danny Rohl.

The picture today is one of the most fascinating odds groups we have ever seen in the title race.

Celtic are no longer favourites to win the title, with the damage French manager Wilfried Nancy doing taking its toll on their numbers.

Hearts, as a result of the weekend’s results are now, for the first time, marginal favourites, with Rangers still third favourites.

The numbers are intriguing.

Hearts top with an average of 6/5 – that’s close to evens.

Celtic are second around 7/4 – which is close to 2/1.

And Rangers have clawed their way into a 2/1 dead on.

Rangers win

Rangers’ win at Parkhead has firmly put the Ibrox side close to Celtic, and not super far behind Hearts.

It’s as close as we’ve ever seen to three sides being priced closely together significantly into January.

What does this mean?

It means Hearts are hanging in there – as much as some Rangers fans think Derek McInnes’ men will falter, they’re not showing a lot of that at the moment.

Celtic chances

It also means the Nancy era has been catastrophic for Celtic and has done untold damage to their title chances. They will need to make a change soon if they are to restore their hopes. Let’s hope they don’t do so.

And it means Rangers are showing a newfound consistency under Rohl to only lose one league match since he arrived. And he has finally shed his big-match hoodoo by securing a critical 3 points at Parkhead when it mattered most.

And it certainly means Rohl’s Rangers are in the title hunt. As much as anything else because Hearts and Celtic are hardly sparkling.

It’s a very, very strange season alright, a decent-then-average-now-horrendous Celtic, a horrific, then average now consistent Rangers, and a punching Hearts.

It all makes for a situation we rarely see.

Three teams fighting for the title. Title race odds this intriguing.

At least this season is not dull!
