Barcelona took a decisive step towards reclaiming the La Liga crown after a 2-0 victory over Getafe

Combined with Real Madrid dropping points in a 1-1 draw against Real Betis, the title race has tilted in Barcelona’s favour.

At this stage of the season, the momentum is clearly with Hansi Flick’s side, and the league now appears to be theirs to lose.

However, the win over Getafe did come with a setback, as Jules Kounde picked up his fifth yellow card of the campaign, triggering an automatic suspension.

This means he will be unavailable for the upcoming trip to Osasuna, creating a tactical challenge for Flick at a crucial point in the season.

Fortunately for Barcelona, the squad offers several solutions.

The first option

One of the most reliable alternatives is Eric Garcia, who has become something of a utility option under Flick

The defender missed the Getafe clash due to suspension, but now returns available for selection.

His versatility has been invaluable, having been deployed across multiple roles this season, including centre-back, right-back, and even as a holding midfielder.

That flexibility makes him a strong candidate to step in.

The second option

Another compelling option is Ronald Araujo. While traditionally a centre-back, he has increasingly been used on the right flank in recent weeks.

His performances in that role have been solid, particularly from a defensive standpoint.

Notably, he has featured extensively at right-back across several key fixtures, including Rayo Vallecano, Atletico Madrid, Espanyol and Getafe, and has performed quite admirably.

The third option

There is also an outside option from within the academy setup.

Xavi Espart, for that matter, has already tasted first-team action and impressed with his composure despite the jump in level.

Although he may not be the first choice, he remains a credible alternative, especially given his familiarity with Barcelona’s playing style.
