Over the past several seasons, Inter have struggled heavily with converting in-front of goal despite consistently creating an abundance of goal-scoring opportunities, which has proven to be very costly as Inter failed to win two very feasable scudetti in the last four seasons to Milan and Napoli respectively.
However, the narrative has altered this season, as the Nerazzurri have become much more efficient and lethal in front of goal compared to the past, proving to be a dominant force up-top with former Parma coach Christian Chivu at the helm of the Biscione.
As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter currently have the best attack in the league with 26 goals scored in the first 11 match days in the Serie A. In addition, the Nerazzurri lead for most chances created in the top-flight Italian league with 47 goal-scoring opportunities orchestrated thus far.
One of the main differentiating factors is that Chivu is seemingly integrating the use of long-distance shots within his training sessions in Appiano, as Inter have been quite menace even when further out from goal.
The Nerazzurri have already tallied 6 goals from far out in 15 games-played, whilst the the Beneamata have amassed 8 of them in 53 games across all competitions in the 2024/25 campaign.
Furthermore, Inter are no longer heavily reliant on Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram as the arrivals of Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny have provided Chivu with an immense amount of depth up-top, as well as enabling Inter to be more deadly in the final third.
So far this season, all four strikers combined have tallied 19 goals in all competitions, 6 of them coming from the pair of promising stars.
Compared to the season prior, the attacking alternatives that consisted of Marko Arnautovic, Joaquin Correa, and Mehdi Taremi only managed to find the back of the net 12 times throughout the full course of the season.
With the Derby di Milano quickly approaching, coach Christian Chivu hopes that Inter’s success in attack can play a key role in moving five points clear from the Italian tactician Max Allegri’s Rossonerri side, continuing the momentum built from their dominant 2-0 victory over Lazio.
