Inter have opened preliminary talks with Jonathan David, who will leave Lille for free in June, but according to Tuttosport, this means the Nerazzurri may be preparing for Marcus Thuram’s exit as the Frenchman has an €85m clause.

Tuttosport confirms that Inter have opened preliminary talks with Canada star David. As Football Italia transfer expert Matteo Moretto reported last week, the Lille forward has decided against extending his expiring contract with the French club.

Thuram release clause pushed Inter to open David transfer talks

Defending Serie A champions Inter are preparing for a significant reshuffle in attack for 2025-26, given that neither Marko Arnautovic nor Joaquin Correa are expected to be offered new deals, leaving the Stadio Meazza in June.

As per Tuttosport, however, opening talks with David, who will have high salary and commission costs, may be a way to prepare for a possible Thuram exit in the summer.

The current Serie A leading scorer’s contract with the Nerazzurri expires in 2028 and includes an €85m clause.

Thuram joined Inter on a free transfer in 2023, and a possible €85m sale would allow Inter to make a huge capital gain.
