Tiago Gouveia completes medical ahead of Gençlerbirligi loan from Benfica | OneFootball

Tiago Gouveia is close to leaving Benfica for Türkiye after completing medical checks ahead of a loan move to Gençlerbirligi.

According to Glorioso 1904, the 25-year-old winger is already in Ankara and is expected to formalise the switch once remaining steps are cleared.

Gouveia is not in Benfica’s plans for the new season and had been training away from the first-team group. The transfer to the current third-placed side in the Turkish league should be finalised after final formalities.

Gençlerbirligi head coach Metin Diyadin confirmed Gouveia’s presence in Ankara alongside Niasse, adding that talks would be completed if no issues arise.

Earlier in the window, Gouveia was close to joining Atlas in Mexico, but the deal collapsed due to a late demand from the player’s agents. He has also been monitored by Lens and Sevilla.

He is set to depart Benfica having made 41 senior appearances, scoring five goals and providing eight assists. The winger spent last season on loan at Nice and is seeking a fresh opportunity to relaunch his career.
