Tiago Volpi and Grêmio are negotiating his departure after Weverton’s arrival last week pushed the goalkeeper to third choice.
According to Globo.com, outstanding financial issues must be settled before he can leave, including signing-on payments owed from his original signing that top up his salary, and the amount he would still be due on a contract running to December 2026.
Volpi could terminate his deal or be loaned to another club, with the former currently the likelier route. A resolution is expected to be confirmed in the coming days.
The 35-year-old started the defeat to São José, then was not named in the squad for the rout of São Luiz. Gabriel Menegon took the reserve spot.
Signed in January 2025, Tiago Volpi has made 50 appearances for Grêmio, scoring two goals from penalties.
