Malik Tillman’s transfer to Bayer Leverkusen has gained momentum, according to De Telegraaf. The PSV midfielder will undergo his medical in the United States on Thursday as the final step before his move to the Bundesliga.
Tillman played for the United States at the Gold Cup last month. It had long seemed likely he would transfer from PSV to Bayer Leverkusen this summer, but the deal gained particular momentum on Thursday.
After losing the Gold Cup final (1-2 against Mexico), Tillman stayed in his home country for a holiday. The attacking midfielder will undergo his medical on Thursday and will then “quickly sign” for Erik ten Hag’s team.
“Bayer Leverkusen’s club doctor has travelled to America to supervise the medical examination at a local clinic. If the outcome is positive, the deal can be finalised,” De Telegraaf reports. Tillman reportedly costs around 40 million euros and will sign a five-year contract in the Bundesliga.
Tillman’s transfer will be PSV’s third-largest sale. Only Hirving Lozano, who moved to Napoli for €50 million, and Cody Gakpo, who moved to Liverpool for €42 million, have generated more money for the Eindhoven club.
In this case, Tillman will be the most expensive signing in the Bundesliga club’s history. Ten Hag and his team are also reportedly eyeing the services of Johan Bakayoko.
