Time to remember what this transfer window is all about

I think for Newcastle United fans, worth having a reminder about this transfer window, what it is all about.
This summer is different to previous.
There are two summer transfer windows.
One that started on Sunday 1 June and ends at 7pm tomorrow (Tuesday 10 June).
Then a second one that starts Monday 16 June and ends 7pm on Monday 1 September 2025.
In summer 2024 there was just the usual one transfer window that ran from 14 June to 30 August 2024.
This summer, in order for clubs competing in the FIFA Club World Cup to sign players ahead of that tournament (which begins 14 June 2025), it was agreed (see below) that the summer transfer window would open on 1 June 2025. In England, as well as Man City and Chelsea who are playing in the Club World Cup, all Premier League EFL clubs could also sign players from 1 June 2025.
However, FIFA rules say that the summer trading can’t last more than 89 days in a summer. Which has then meant the need for a gap (six days) with no transfers allowed, in order for this summer’s trading to still go on until the end of August (actually ending at 7pm on Monday 1 September 2025 as the authorities don’t want the extra complications of the transfer window ending on a weekend.
As Newcastle United fans, we would all love exciting signings to be done as soon as possible. At the same time though, you have to remember that we are still currently at a time of the year when summer signings aren’t usually able to be made. So anybody who is jumping on the panic bandwagon should calm down.
The thing is as well, when you dig down, almost all of the signings made by Premier League clubs so far, are ones that were already sorted a long time ago and/or are loan deals becoming permanent, so they are automatically triggered on the first day of the summer transfer window officially opening.
Then when you look at the most difficult of deals, those where one Premier League club is buying from another (which is where the majority of Newcastle United’s business is expected to be and money spent) , then these are almost non-existent so far.
The two big ones, Premier League club to another Premier League club, have been Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap. However, in both cases there was release clause transfer figure that could be activated, so Man U and Chelsea didn’t need to agree a fee with Wolves and Ipswich respectively, which makes things a ‘little'(!!!) easier when signing a player.
Liverpool have sold reserve keeper Kelleher to Brentford who have lost Flekken to Bayer Leverkusen. However, last year Liverpool agreed a deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili to join this summer as back up for Alisson, so Kelleher was always going to be sold and I am guessing that agreed with Brentford some time ago.
There may be a time that comes this summer where we should become concerned if no major signings have been made by Newcastle United, that time though isn’t now.
Premier League official explanation on the summer transfer window(s) – March 2025:
