Barcelona have received a timely boost ahead of the decisive phase of the season, with key players nearing their return.

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, the club is optimistic about welcoming back Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde for their first game after the international break against Atletico Madrid.

This comes as a major relief for Hansi Flick, who has had to deal with several injury setbacks in recent weeks.

Barcelona are entering what could be the most defining stretch of their campaign, with major fixtures lined up, which is why having important players back at this stage could make all the difference.

Welcome boost for Barcelona

Balde, in particular, appears to be ahead of schedule.

The young left-back picked up an injury to the distal biceps femoris of his left thigh earlier this month during the Copa del Rey clash against Atletico Madrid.

At the time, initial estimates suggested a recovery period of around four weeks. If he returns for the upcoming meeting with Atletico, it would be in line with that original timeline.

Kounde, who was injured in the same match, has had a slightly more complicated recovery. While no exact timeline was initially provided, reports suggested he may need a bit more time than Balde, possibly around an additional week.

Even so, there remains a strong possibility that he could feature against Atletico, although it is still unclear whether that will be in La Liga or in the Champions League quarter-final.

What about De Jong?

However, not all the news is straightforward for Barcelona, as Frenkie de Jong’s recovery is progressing more cautiously.

The Dutch midfielder picked up his injury during a training session on February 26, with an expected recovery period of five to six weeks.

While a return against Atletico Madrid cannot be completely ruled out, the report indicates that De Jong may instead target the derby against Espanyol.

His careful approach to recovery means Barcelona are unlikely to rush him back before he is fully fit.
