Timothée Chalamet stoked the ASSE-OL rivalry at a Paris pop-up, reaffirming his Saint-Étienne allegiance with a pointed message on an OL shirt.
The Marty Supreme event took place at MK2 Bibliothèque in the 13th arrondissement from 13:00, promoting Josh Safdie’s new film, due on 18 February 2026, in which he plays an ambitious table tennis player. In Paris Match, he has previously spoken about his long-standing affection for Saint-Étienne.
Handed a Lyon shirt, the Franco-American smiled and, in fluent French, wrote “À bas Lyon”.
Chalamet has ties to Haute-Loire and has followed Saint-Étienne since childhood, and his backing for the Verts has been prominent during the film’s publicity push.
Recently awarded Best Actor in a Comedy at the Golden Globes, he said his year has started well and that he feels fortunate. He added that for 2026 to feel truly perfect, Saint-Étienne would need to return to Ligue 1 next season.
At the Paris premiere at the Grand Rex on three February, he told the crowd, “Allez les Verts!”. The message is sure to prompt a reaction from Lyon supporters.
