Bundesliga side Schalke 04 have this morning announced that French defender Timothée Kolodziejczak has joined on a trial basis, with the 31-year-old a free agent since leaving Saint-Étienne at the end of last season.
The former French youth international trained with the German club this Tuesday morning, and if he proves himself will sign for a club across the Rhine for the second time in his career, having spent the latter half of the 2016/17 season with Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Kolodziejczak’s four-season spell with Les Verts came to a close this summer, having been widely criticised for his defensive performances in the back end of the campaign as the club suffered relegation. The former Lyon, Nice and Sevilla man will have made 122 appearances for the club.
The double Europa League winner will be looking to turn the page after a disastrous end to his time with Saint-Étienne, while the Royal Blues will be hoping he can eventually contribute to an upturn in form, as they currently sit 16th in the Bundesliga.
