Timur Tutierov sets targets after shining against York City and Liverpool | OneFootball

Timur Tutierov has set his sights on maintaining momentum after a standout pre-season week, speaking on the club website following Sunderland’s 4-2 defeat to Liverpool. The Ukraine Under-21 forward scored to make it two in two games.

The 21-year-old impressed on loan at Exeter City in the second half of last season, recording three goals and one assist in 17 outings in all competitions. He returned to sign a new deal that keeps him at Sunderland until the summer of 2028.

Tutierov has trained with Regis Le Bris’ first-team group and made an impact in last week’s win at League Two newcomers York City. Those displays earned him a place on the club’s three-game tour of the United States.

Against Liverpool, Kieran Morrison put the Reds ahead before Enzo Le Fee’s strike levelled it. Tutierov then nudged Sunderland in front, but Dominik Szoboszlai, Federico Chiesa and Lewis Koumas turned the game around.

“I am so proud for myself and so proud for the lads. We had a great opportunity to play against unbelievable players like (Dominik Szoboszlai). It’s a big experience for me and for them as well.”
