Cruzeiro made their debut in the 2026 Brasileirão by being thrashed 4-0 by Botafogo in Rio de Janeiro.

Besides the heavy scoreline, this marks the third consecutive defeat for Raposa, including the loss to Atlético-MG in the last round of the state championship.

Especially because, last year, the celestial team was in the running for the Brasileirão title alongside Palmeiras and Flamengo, under the command of Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim.
