Hebburn Town are weighing moves for three Sunderland youngsters after a title-winning promotion campaign.
Sunderland Echo understands that the promoted Hornets are looking at goalkeeper Cameron, fellow keeper Isaac Allan and forward Waters.
Hebburn topped the Northern Premier League Premier Division with 79 points from 40 matches, winning 23, drawing 10 and losing seven. They finished two points ahead of Hednesford Town and seven clear of FC United of Manchester.
Cameron began the season on loan at Hebburn before a stint with Boston United, with Allan replacing him on loan midway through the campaign. Waters enjoyed a productive spell, maintained a strong goals-to-minutes ratio and scored in the final game.
Allan remains under contract at Sunderland next season, so any return would need to be a loan. Hebburn are only likely to pursue one of Cameron or Allan, with that call part of wider summer planning at a higher level.
After last month’s 2-1 win over Bamber Bridge, boss Daniel Moore praised the goalkeeper for crucial saves and said the substitutions changed the game. He added that they pushed two up front to chase the win, reflecting a front-foot approach throughout the season.
Hebburn are expected to work with a modest budget and want a young, energetic group for National League North. Waters, Cameron and Allan fit the profile they hope to attract this summer.
