AC Milan are expected to sign a new central midfielder during the January transfer window but Reda Belahyane appears a difficult target to get.
In Niccolò Ceccarini’s latest for TMW, he reports that Milan are following Belahyane ‘with great interest’ as he continues to grow with Hellas Verona. The 20-year-old ‘has already entered the circle of the Morocco national team’, making he debut on October 15 against the Central African Republic.
His qualities have not gone unnoticed, and that is why teams such as Chelsea and Marseille are monitoring his development. Belahyane has now become a point of reference for Paolo Zanetti’s Verona and if Milan want to win the race, a ‘significant offer’ will be needed.
There is something that works in favour of Belahyane: as an Under 22 player, there would be no problems with the squad list rules given he can be put on List B. He could become a ‘very valid option’ for the Rossoneri, even if for now things are in the early stages.
Ceccarini adds that there are other ideas being evaluated too. Morten Frendrup remains a target, even if Genoa’s request is no less than €15m, while Johnny Cardoso from Real Betis and Lucas Gouma-Douath from Red Bull Salzburg are on the list too.
One thing is certain: Milan need an addition in that area given the amount that Tijjani Reijnders and especially Youssouf Fofana has worked this season in terms of minutes.
