Toby Collyer says James Morrison set the wheels in motion for his West Bromwich Albion return in March, and the midfielder now feels at home after sealing a permanent move.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 22-year-old completed a switch from Manchester United for an initial fee of three million pounds late in the summer window after an injury-hit loan last season.

Collyer made 12 appearances, including three starts, for Albion in the first half of last term before joining Hull, who went up via the play-offs. He featured five times for the Tigers.

Morrison nevertheless pursued him throughout the summer and, after Albion’s 3-0 win over Hull at The Hawthorns in March, told Collyer he would try to bring him back if he landed the job. Collyer was an unused substitute that day and the pair stayed in contact, which he says underlined the head coach’s trust.

Preferring a long-term home, Collyer felt this was the right step, noting that loans can feel temporary and that Morrison’s push has given him extra motivation.

Hull also explored a deal after promotion under Sergej Jakirovic, but the midfielder judged The Hawthorns best for his development after assessing the facilities, staff and dressing room. He also suffered an ankle injury in April during training.

He has started once, against QPR, and came off the bench against Wolves before the international break. He is likely to feature in a behind-closed-doors friendly this weekend and is expected to play a key role when action resumes.
