‘Told It’s’ – Claim On Fee Celtic Expected To Bank From Star’s Exit Made By Journalist | OneFootball

Celtic are expected to have an offer on the table for Arne Engels from West Ham United which is £25m rising to £30m.

The 22-year-old was heavily pursued by Nottingham Forest during the winter window, with the Tricky Trees submitting multiple offers in their efforts to lure him away from Parkhead.

The Bhoys, however, remained resolute in their stance and ultimately retained the Belgian at Celtic Park.

Further interest was always anticipated this summer, with Nottingham Forest reviving their pursuit in June while Crystal Palace also entered the fray.

Roma subsequently joined the queue, but West Ham have been the most proactive in pushing their interest forward.

The Hammers tabled an offer last month which was understood to have edged relatively close to Celtic’s valuation of Engels.

Now, with Celtic having signed Mika Baur from Paderborn, there is a growing expectation that the Scottish champions will eventually sell Engels.

West Ham are going in with a fresh bid and it is expected to be £25m and rising to £30m with add-ons.

Journalist Alan Nixon wrote on X: “Told it’s 25 rising to 30.”

Celtic splashed cash on land Baur, who Paderborn did not want to sell, but he will have big boots to fill if he is to replace Engels.

A move to London Stadium would hand Engels a substantial pay rise, while the Belgian could help Nuno Espirito Santo’s side secure an immediate return to the Premier League.

The Belgian started and registered an assist as Celtic swept to a 5-1 victory in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, once again underlining his importance to the side.

If Celtic do accept the bid coming in from West Ham then it remains to be seen how hard to achieve or difficult to achieve the add-ons to take the fee to £30m would be.
