Celtic could be set for a period without deputy right back Tony Ralston. The Scotland Internationalist has been thrust into the first team after Alistair Johnston sustained a hamstring injury but now could join his colleague in the treatment room.
A report from Sun Sport claims that the dependable Ralston is set for a spell on the sidelines after sustaining an ankle knock.
Ralston is normally very dependable but appeared to be struggling in Almaty before appearing to soldier on at Ibrox. In fairness to him, he did play through an injury and that might’ve explained his performance level not being as high as expected.
This could mean that Colby Donovan finds himself starting for Celtic when the Scottish Champions return to action next Sunday with a trip to Kilmarnock. Despite being highly rated, Donovan was due to leave the club on loan to enable his development. Now he could be expected to learn on the job as Celtic look to build some momentum and restore harmony after a disastrous month in the transfer window. Domestically, Celtic sit six points ahead of Rangers and are through into the next round of the Cup but the UCL exit and lack of quality additions after a period of perceived inactivity has resulted in supporters disappointed with the club’s Chief Executive.
